Step-by-step

  • After you trim the chicken put the pieces onto a cookie sheet (preferably foil covered, it took me forever to scrub mine clean last time!).
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes until golden and crisp - longer if you like them really crispy.
  • Meanwhile in a medium saucepan melt the butter and add the entire bottle of hot sauce as well as the habanero, if using.
  • Simmer over low heat while the wings are in the oven.
  • Remove wings from the oven and dump into the sauce, toss until well coated.
  • Take them out and put them back on the cookie sheet - back in the oven for another 30 minutes or more.
  • If you love them really saucy you can repeat this step. Or if you are cooking them for a party later, refrigerate the sauce and wings and then re-dunk and blast for 20 minutes in the oven right (375 F) before your guests arrive.
  • Serve with lots of celery sticks and good quality blue cheese dressing!
Classic Buffalo Wings: A Home Cook's Guide

My Go-To Recipe: Classic Buffalo Wings

As a busy mom, I need recipes that are both delicious and easy to make. These classic Buffalo wings fit the bill perfectly. They're a crowd-pleaser, perfect for game day, a casual get-together, or even just a cozy night in with the family. Forget takeout – this recipe is so simple, it'll become your new favorite go-to.

What I love about this recipe is its adaptability. Want extra crispy wings? Bake them a little longer. Prefer a milder flavor? Skip the habanero. It's all about customization to your taste preferences. The key is using good quality ingredients – fresh chicken wings and a good Frank's RedHot sauce are non-negotiable in my book! And don’t skimp on the celery and blue cheese dressing; they are the perfect complements to the spicy, savory wings.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. It’s a straightforward process that even a novice cook can master. I often make a double batch, especially when we’re having friends over. They're just that addictive. The aroma alone filling the kitchen is enough to make your mouth water. You’ll find yourself happily surprised at how easy it is to achieve that perfect balance of crispy, juicy, and intensely flavorful wings.

Beyond game day, these wings are fantastic for potlucks, casual dinners, or even a Friday night treat. They're endlessly versatile, so don’t hesitate to experiment with different dipping sauces or sides. Maybe a creamy ranch dressing or even a spicy mayo would be a delicious variation.

This recipe has become a staple in my household. It's the kind of recipe that always impresses, regardless of the occasion. The satisfaction of creating something so delicious from simple ingredients is unmatched. It's more than just a recipe; it's a testament to the power of simple, well-executed cooking.

So, gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and get ready to experience the ultimate comfort food. You won't regret it! The compliments will roll in, I promise. And the best part? You'll be left with the satisfaction of knowing you created this deliciousness yourself, from scratch. Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Perfect Buffalo Wings:

  • Pat the wings dry: Before baking, make sure to thoroughly pat the wings dry with paper towels. This helps achieve extra crispy skin.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Ensure there is space between the wings on the baking sheet for even cooking and browning.
  • Adjust the spice level: Feel free to adjust the amount of hot sauce and habanero pepper to your desired level of spiciness.
  • Serve immediately: Buffalo wings are best served hot and fresh.
  • Make it a meal: Serve your wings with a variety of sides such as celery sticks, carrot sticks, blue cheese dressing, ranch dressing, and potato salad.
