Step-by-step

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Grease the bottom with butter.
  • Place the graham crackers in a single layer on top of the greased foil or parchment paper. Break the graham crackers as necessary to completely cover the bottom of the pan.
  • In a medium-sized pot on the stove, add your 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of packed brown sugar, and 1 cup of chopped pecans. Heat over medium-high until the mixture comes to a boil. Set the timer for two minutes and stir the mixture constantly while it is boiling. The mixture will become frothy.
  • After two minutes, remove the mixture from the stove and pour over the top of the graham crackers in the 9x13 pan.
  • Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  • After removing from the oven, let the toffee sit for two minutes. Then sprinkle the 1 1/4 cups of chocolate chips evenly over the top. Wait for five minutes, then spread the melted chocolate with a spatula over the top of the toffee.
  • Sprinkle more chopped pecans over the top of the melted chocolate if desired.
  • Allow to cool completely. Then cut or break into pieces.

My Unexpectedly Delicious Graham Cracker Toffee Adventure

As a busy working mom, I’m always on the hunt for quick and easy recipes that are both delicious and impressive. I stumbled upon this Graham Cracker Toffee recipe the other day while scrolling through a food blog (don't judge, we all do it!), and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. It's the kind of dessert that disappears in minutes, leaving everyone wanting more. The combination of crunchy graham crackers, rich buttery toffee, and the satisfying crunch of pecans is simply divine. And the best part? It's surprisingly simple to make. Forget those complicated, multi-layered desserts that take hours to assemble. This one comes together in a flash, leaving me with plenty of time to spend with my family – and that's a win in my book.

Initially, I was a little hesitant. I'm not exactly known for my baking prowess; let's just say my culinary skills lean more towards "functional" than "fancy." However, this recipe is incredibly forgiving. Even with my occasional kitchen mishaps, the end result was stunning. The toffee was perfectly crisp, the chocolate rich and smooth, and the pecans provided the perfect textural contrast. My kids absolutely adored it, and even my usually picky husband asked for seconds – a true testament to its deliciousness. I served it at our weekly family game night and it was completely devoured. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you feel like a culinary rockstar, even if you secretly used pre-made graham crackers (don't tell anyone!).

What truly surprised me was how versatile this recipe is. I experimented with different types of chocolate – dark chocolate, milk chocolate, even a little white chocolate for a touch of sweetness – and each variation was equally delicious. I also tried adding a pinch of sea salt to the toffee mixture, which elevated the flavor profile to another level. The salty-sweet combination is unbeatable! Next time, I'm thinking about adding a sprinkle of dried cranberries or chopped pistachios for an extra layer of flavor and texture. The possibilities are endless!

This Graham Cracker Toffee has quickly become a staple in my dessert repertoire. It's perfect for potlucks, holiday gatherings, or just a spontaneous sweet treat after a long day. It's easy to make, incredibly delicious, and always a crowd-pleaser. So, if you’re looking for a simple yet impressive dessert that’s sure to impress, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed. Plus, the satisfaction of creating something so tasty from scratch is incredibly rewarding, even for a kitchen novice like myself. Trust me on this one; you'll be hooked!

Tips for success:

  • Make sure your brown sugar is well-packed to ensure the toffee has the right consistency.
  • Don't overbake the toffee, or it might become too hard.
  • Let the toffee cool completely before cutting or breaking into pieces. This allows it to set properly.
  • Get creative with add-ins! Experiment with different nuts, dried fruits, or even sprinkles.
  • Store leftover toffee in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week (if it lasts that long!).
