Not too long ago, I found this recipe for a frozen treat. Now, whenever I make it, it reminds me of her. She loved to bake, and so do I.

As I get older, it's funny how the smells of certain foods trigger such vivid memories. Like the smell of the old vanilla in my Grandmother's custard. It wasn't like store-bought vanilla. It was just different, and it made the custard so good.
The other day I was cleaning out some old things, and I found a handwritten recipe for my Grandmother's vanilla custard. I decided to make it, and it was just as good as I remembered it being. The entire time I was making it, I kept thinking about my Grandmother. She was such a good cook, and she loved to bake. She would always make us special treats when we went to visit her. I miss her a lot, but I'm so grateful for the memories I have of her. And now, every time I make this custard, I'll think of her.
