Step-by-step

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with PAM cooking spray generously. Set aside.
  • Brown the ground beef in a large frying pan, making sure not to overcook it. Make sure you stir it often, breaking it into little pieces.
  • Once the beef is cooked to perfection, add the 2 cans of Manwich sauce. Let it get to a nice bubble, and then turn it down to simmer.
  • Open 1 can of crescent rolls. Unroll it and place it in the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Spread it out with your hands until it fits really well.
  • Blend the garlic butter ingredients really well and spread 1/2 of it onto the bottom layer of crescent roll.
  • Take 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese (2 cups of it) and toss it onto the dough evenly.
  • Turn off your burner under the Manwich mixture and pour the mixture on top of the cheese. Spread it out with a spoon evenly.
  • Now take the remaining mozzarella (2 cups) and toss it evenly over the Manwich mixture. Spread it out nicely.
  • Now open the 2nd package of crescent rolls and unroll it. Spread it out by hand in sections before placing it on top of the cheese.
  • You could press it out on parchment paper if you are nervous about it. Then just flip the parchment over and the dough will drop on top of the mixture perfectly.
  • Brush the remainder of the garlic butter mixture onto the dough.
  • Place the dish into the oven and bake about 30 minutes, depending on your oven, or until golden brown on top.
  • Remove from oven and take a knife and cut the casserole into squares.
  • Remove the squares carefully while hot.
  • Enjoy!

A Weeknight Wonder: My Sloppy Joe Casserole

Life as a working mom is a whirlwind. Between early morning school runs, demanding meetings, and the never-ending cycle of laundry and grocery shopping, finding time to cook a delicious and satisfying dinner often feels impossible. But I’ve learned a few tricks along the way, and one of my absolute go-to recipes is this Sloppy Joe Casserole. It's a lifesaver on busy weeknights, and surprisingly, the kids adore it!

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. It’s a one-pan wonder that requires minimal prep time, meaning I can get it in the oven while finishing up other tasks. The combination of savory ground beef, tangy Manwich sauce, and flaky crescent roll topping is simply irresistible. It’s comfort food at its finest, a warm hug in a baking dish. It’s also wonderfully versatile; I've experimented with adding different cheeses, vegetables, or even a sprinkle of chili powder for a little extra kick. The possibilities are endless, and it’s a great way to use up leftovers or get creative in the kitchen.

One of my favorite things about this recipe is how it brings everyone together. The aroma filling the kitchen as it bakes is a surefire way to get the kids excited for dinner. It's a dish that transcends the ordinary; it's a reminder that even amidst the chaos of daily life, there’s always time for a comforting, delicious meal shared with loved ones. And the cleanup? A breeze! One pan, minimal dishes—a true mom's dream.

This Sloppy Joe Casserole isn’t just for weeknights, though. It’s also perfect for potlucks, game day gatherings, or any occasion where you need a crowd-pleasing dish that’s easy to transport and serve. It travels well and reheats beautifully, making it a versatile choice for any gathering. I've even been known to make a double batch and freeze half for those especially hectic weeks when time is truly of the essence.

So, if you’re a busy mom (or anyone, really!) looking for a quick, easy, and incredibly delicious dinner recipe, look no further. This Sloppy Joe Casserole is a game-changer.
