Step-by-step

  • Marinate (mix) the pork with 1/5 tea spoon of salt, a dash of pepper, 1/3 teaspoon of sugar.
  • Put in the cut onion in a frying pan and stir (doesn't have to be constantly) until it gets a little brown (adjust the heat to 7/10 if the onion doesn't get brown regularly, e.g. if it is too brown on some side). Don't forget to stir or it will get burnt on one side.
  • Put the meat in and stir constantly. Use a spoon to push/mesh the meat into small pieces, it shouldn't stay in a big lump) until the meat doesn't look red any more (no more water in the pan) (turn the heat up a little if too much water gets out of the meat).
  • Fry 1-2 more minutes (so the meat doesn't look just like cooked (just plain white) but fried (tiny bit yellow))
  • Pour the onion & meat into a bowl.
  • Add oil to saucepan and raise temperature to 10.
  • Add broccoli and celery and stir a bit (3 minutes).
  • Add macaroni and bring heat down slightly.
  • Add a dash of sugar, and a bit of ketchup.
  • Add cream cheese.
  • Mix well!
  • Add milk, meat mix, chicken broth, and more ketchup to taste (maybe 1 more dash).
  • Keep mixing!
  • Add a spoonful of chicken soup base or chicken flavored broth.
Mac & Cream Cheese: A Creamy Twist on a Classic

A Housewife's Unexpected Culinary Delight: Mac & Cream Cheese

Let me tell you about a recent cooking adventure that completely changed my perspective on mac and cheese. For years, I’ve been a loyal follower of the classic cheddar cheese version, the kind that evokes warm memories of family dinners and cozy nights in. But then, my aunt, bless her inventive soul, decided to experiment. She was making mac and cheese, but lo and behold, she ran out of cheddar. Her solution? Cream cheese! Initially, I was skeptical. Cream cheese in mac and cheese? It sounded… unusual, to say the least. But curiosity, as they say, killed the cat (metaphorically speaking, of course!), and I decided to give it a try.

The result? Absolutely divine! The cream cheese added a richness and creaminess that the classic cheddar version simply couldn't match. The texture was unbelievably smooth and luxurious, a delightful departure from the sometimes slightly gritty consistency of traditional mac and cheese. The subtle tang of the cream cheese perfectly complemented the other flavors, creating a balanced and satisfying dish that I now prefer over the original. It’s become a go-to comfort food in our house, and I’ve even started experimenting with variations, adding different herbs and spices to enhance the cream cheese's inherent deliciousness.

This unexpected culinary adventure has taught me a valuable lesson: sometimes, the most delightful dishes are born from necessity and a willingness to step outside the box. Who knew that a simple substitution could lead to such a satisfying and flavorful outcome? The beauty of cooking, I’ve discovered, lies in the freedom to experiment, to adapt, and to create something truly unique. I encourage you all to embrace the unexpected, to try new things, and to never be afraid to deviate from the recipe. You might just discover your new favorite dish – just like I did.
