Simple Buffalo Wings

This is my go-to wing recipe. As simple as this recipe is, I get requests from my family to make them all the time. I think Frank's Hot Sauce is the key to the flavor. These wings are mild to medium on the spicy scale. You can always taste test the sauce and add more cayenne if you'd like it hotter.

Simple Buffalo Wings: A Family Favorite

My Simple, Crowd-Pleasing Buffalo Wings

As a busy mom, I’m always looking for recipes that are both delicious and easy to make. These buffalo wings have become a staple in our home, requested repeatedly by my family. It's a testament to how simple yet incredibly flavorful they are. The secret? It's all in the Frank's RedHot Sauce! The slightly tangy heat perfectly complements the crispy chicken, making these wings a perfect appetizer for game day, a casual weeknight dinner, or even a fun weekend gathering. I've tweaked this recipe slightly over the years, perfecting the balance of spice and flavor to suit our family’s palate. They fall on the milder end of the spicy scale, but you can always adjust the cayenne pepper to kick things up a notch if you prefer a hotter wing.

I remember the first time I made these. It was a spontaneous decision, fueled by a craving for something satisfying and comforting. I didn't have a lot of time, but I knew I needed to whip something up quickly. I scoured through my recipe collection, landing on this simple buffalo wing recipe. The ingredients were basic, easily accessible, and the instructions were straightforward. Even my teenage kids could follow them without supervision. To my surprise, and perhaps theirs, these wings were an instant hit! The crispy, succulent chicken coated in a vibrant, spicy sauce disappeared faster than I could say "buffalo wings." From then on, this recipe became a regular feature on our menu. It's a dish that always delivers, regardless of the occasion.

Tips and Variations:

  • Wing Size: I prefer to cut the wings into thirds, discarding the tips. However, you can adjust the cutting method to your preference. Some people prefer to leave them whole or just cut them in half.
  • Spice Level: Start with the suggested amount of cayenne pepper and adjust to your liking. If you're a spice enthusiast, add more for an extra kick! Conversely, leave it out altogether for a milder version.
  • Broiler vs. Oven: While I use the broiler for that extra crispy finish, you can bake these wings in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with classic sides like celery sticks and your favorite blue cheese dressing. Carrot sticks, ranch dressing, or even a side of potato salad also make excellent accompaniments.
  • Make it Ahead: You can prepare the wings ahead of time by cutting and marinating them in the sauce. Store in the refrigerator until ready to cook.

This recipe isn't just about the wings themselves; it's about the simple joy of gathering around the table with loved ones, sharing a meal, and creating lasting memories.
