Step-by-step

  • Add 1 1/2 cups of water to the inner stainless liner of the 6 qt pressure cooker (Use 2 1/2 cups for the 8 qt).
  • Place the trivet in the pot also.
  • Mix all of the hamburger meat mixture ingredients together in a bowl with the meat.
  • If making Version #2, mix the soup packet with the ground meat.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal (4 oz) patties, 3 (5 oz) patties, or 2 (8 oz patties).
  • Press your thumb into the center of each patty to make an indentation.
  • Wrap patties in foil (not heavy duty) or parchment. The wrapping and cooking under pressure is what steams them.
  • Stack the wrapped patties on the trivet in a staggered pattern.
  • Place the lid on the pot and set the steam release knob to the Sealing position.
  • Press the Pressure Cook/Manual button, or dial and then the + or - button, or dial to select: 11 minutes for 4 oz patties (7 minutes for a touch rare), 13 minutes for 5 oz patties (9 minutes for a touch rare), 15 minutes for 8 oz patties (11 minutes for a touch rare) High pressure.
  • When the cook cycle is finished, do a Quick Release of the pressure/steam (that means turn the steam release knob to the Venting position right after cooking is finished).
  • Carefully remove the patties from the pot using tongs.
  • Let them rest for 5 minutes.
  • Unwrap them on a plate to catch the drippings, and make up your hamburger with all of your favorite fixin's!

My Secret to Juicy, Restaurant-Style Hamburgers in Minutes

As a busy working mom, time is my most precious commodity. Dinner prep often feels like a race against the clock, and honestly, sometimes I just don't have the energy for elaborate recipes. That’s why I've become obsessed with finding quick, easy, and delicious meals that my family actually enjoys. And let me tell you, these Instant Pot Hamburgers are a game-changer.

Forget greasy, overcooked burgers from the grill. These Instant Pot creations are juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked every single time. The secret? The Instant Pot itself! The steam created during pressure cooking gives these patties an incredibly moist texture, reminiscent of those famous fast-food chains that swear by their steaming method. But unlike those chains, my burgers are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and I know exactly what goes into them. The best part? Cleanup is a breeze! Minimal mess, maximum flavor, and happy family —that’s my kind of cooking.

I’ve experimented with different timings, and I’ve found the perfect cooking times for various patty sizes. Whether you prefer your burgers well-done, medium, or even a touch rare, this recipe has you covered. I usually make a batch of four 4-ounce patties for my kids and my husband, but sometimes I do three larger ones for myself and my husband. It’s incredibly versatile.

What I love most about this recipe is how customizable it is. Feel free to experiment with different seasonings to create your unique burger blend. Add a touch of smoked paprika for a smoky flavor, or maybe some garlic powder and onion powder for a classic taste. You can also get creative with the toppings. My personal favorites are classic lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, cheese, and a generous dollop of mayonnaise and ketchup. My husband loves adding mustard and sometimes bacon. It's the perfect blank canvas for your culinary imagination.

Beyond the deliciousness, making these burgers in the Instant Pot saves me so much time and effort. No more standing over a hot grill, battling flames, and flipping patties endlessly. The Instant Pot does all the work, allowing me to focus on other things – like spending quality time with my family or tackling that never-ending to-do list. This method is perfect for busy weeknights when I want a satisfying and delicious meal without sacrificing too much of my precious time. It's simple, reliable, and a true lifesaver for a busy mom like me.

The convenience factor can't be overstated. I can easily prep the ingredients in advance, meaning that on those particularly hectic evenings, dinner is just minutes away. The cleanup is a dream – a quick wipe down of the Instant Pot and a few minutes washing some dishes and I’m done! No more scrubbing a greasy grill and dealing with charcoal mess. The pressure cooking method ensures evenly cooked patties every time, no matter how many I make.

And let’s be honest, the best part of any burger is the delicious juicy burger patty itself. With this recipe, the result is always perfectly juicy and flavorful. The method guarantees a consistent outcome, something I truly appreciate. It’s become a go-to recipe that always impresses, whether it's a casual weeknight dinner or a fun weekend meal. Even my picky kids ask for them frequently!

So if you're looking for a quick, easy, and delicious burger recipe that's perfect for busy weeknights, look no further! Give these Instant Pot Hamburgers a try. You won't be disappointed. Trust me, once you experience the convenience and the incredible flavor, you'll be making these burgers again and again.

Pro-Tip: Don’t overcrowd the Instant Pot. If you need to cook more patties, make it in batches to ensure even cooking.

Pro-Tip: You can use different types of ground meat – turkey, chicken, or even a blend for a leaner option.

Pro-Tip: Add a slice of cheese to your burger patty during the last few minutes of cooking. The pressure will melt the cheese perfectly.
