  • Preparing Time: 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Served Person: 4

Step-by-step

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the beef, egg, green onion, salt and pepper using your hands.
  • Once mixed, add in the coconut flour and mix again until evenly dispersed.
  • Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and place onto a cookie sheet (it should make about 20 balls).
  • Bake until no longer pink inside, about 16-18 minutes. Make sure you don't over-bake, so the meat doesn't get tough.
  • While the meatballs cook, stir together ALL of the sauce ingredients in a medium pot and bring to a boil on high heat.
  • Once boiling, cook for 1.5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Once the sauce has boiled for 1.5 minutes, turn the heat down to medium and simmer until the sauce begins to thicken and reduce, about 8-9 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Once reduced, pour the sauce into a high powered blender and blend until smooth.
  • Transfer to a large bowl and cover to keep warm.
  • Once the meatballs are done, add them into the sauce and stir until well coated.
  • Serve over side of choice, garnish with extra green onion and DEVOUR.

Life as a mom is a whirlwind. Between school runs, work deadlines, and keeping the house from descending into utter chaos, finding time for a healthy, delicious, and satisfying meal feels almost impossible. But I'm here to tell you, it doesn't have to be! This Paleo Sweet and Sour Meatball recipe is my go-to when I need a quick, easy, and nutritious dinner that the whole family will love. And the best part? It’s surprisingly simple to make.

I've always been a fan of sweet and sour dishes, but traditional recipes often leave me feeling sluggish and bloated. That’s why I adapted this classic into a Paleo-friendly version. By swapping out refined sugars and processed ingredients for healthier alternatives, I’ve created a guilt-free meal that’s packed with flavor. The vibrant sweet and sour sauce coats perfectly tender meatballs, creating a dish that’s both exciting and comforting.

The beauty of this recipe lies in its versatility. The meatballs themselves are incredibly adaptable. Feel free to experiment with different protein sources, such as ground turkey or chicken, if you prefer. You can also adjust the spice level according to your family's preferences. Need to make it spicier? Add a pinch more Tabasco or a dash of your favorite hot sauce. Want it milder? Simply reduce the amount of pepper.

Making it Work for Your Schedule:

One of the reasons I love this recipe is that it’s easily adaptable to fit any busy schedule. You can prep the meatballs ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until you're ready to bake them. Similarly, the sauce can be made ahead of time and stored separately. Simply combine everything just before serving for a truly quick weeknight dinner.

Beyond the Dinner Table:

This Paleo Sweet and Sour Meatball recipe isn't limited to dinner. These meatballs are also fantastic for meal prepping. They store beautifully in the refrigerator for several days, making them perfect for packed lunches or quick snacks. You can also easily freeze them for future use. Simply portion them out into freezer bags and pop them in the freezer for a future meal when you are short on time.
