Step-by-step

  • Crush the whole pack of Oreos in a Ziploc bag with a roller (or your hands).
  • Put a ½ cup of the crushed Oreos aside for sprinkling on top of the dessert later.
  • Melt the butter and with the remaining Oreo crumbs, mix the two together and press the crumbs into the base of your dish, packing them firmly, to make a crust.
  • Place in the fridge.
  • Now make up the chocolate pudding in a bowl, according to the box instructions and place in the fridge…we’ll be using it soon.
  • In a mixer, blend the cream cheese until smooth, add the icing sugar and Orley whip and mix until thick and creamy.
  • Now we’re ready to layer our dessert. Top the Oreo layer with half the cream cheese mix, followed by the chocolate pudding and followed by a final layer of the cream cheese mix.
  • Sprinkle with the ½ cup Oreos.
  • Cover and keep in the fridge until ready to serve!

My Unexpectedly Delicious Oreo Layer Dessert Adventure

Let me tell you, friends, life as a busy working mom can be a whirlwind. Between early morning school runs, demanding deadlines at the office, and the never-ending cycle of laundry and meal prep, finding time for myself, let alone baking elaborate desserts, feels like a luxury. But, sometimes, even amidst the chaos, a little bit of sweetness is exactly what you need to recharge and reconnect with your inner peace. That's where this Oreo Layer Dessert comes in. It's simple, it's decadent, and most importantly, it's surprisingly quick to make.

I stumbled upon this recipe on a whim, needing a dessert to bring to a potluck at work. Usually, I'd opt for store-bought, but something told me to try something new. Little did I know it would become a new family favorite! The initial thought of layering Oreo crumbs, pudding, and cream cheese might seem unassuming, but the combination of textures and flavors is pure magic. The crunchy Oreo base provides a delightful contrast to the creamy, dreamy layers above, creating a symphony of taste in every bite.

The beauty of this dessert? It requires no complicated techniques or fancy equipment. No fancy piping bags or hours of chilling. You can whip it up in a fraction of the time it would take to prepare more complex sweets, which is perfect when you're juggling a million different things at once. Whether it's a casual family gathering, a celebratory event, or a simple weeknight treat, this dessert always hits the spot. It’s the kind of dessert that sparks conversations and brings smiles to faces, a welcome respite in the sometimes-frantic pace of modern life.
