1 medium size cook purple yam (divided: 3 tbsp (packed) for 3 tbsp (packed) for the filling, and the rest will be used to cover top of the cake frosting). packed means you have to press down the grated purple yam into 1 tbsp until it is compact and holds the tbsp shape when removed.
